If microsoft made a zunephone or something... It would probably have more software compatibility. not to mention the Price will most likely be considerably lower.
Why pay an extra 300$ to put a big apple sticker on your forehead?

my 3.2 quad-core only cost £750, and I built it myself. Its also got 2 gig of video ram ready for gaming.
Yeh it does suprise me that you can change CPU's, and thats cool. I guess it all comes down to what you like - I like the way windows works, I was never a fan of the finder, and I'm not really swayed by aqua effects and that. I use my windows cos its perfect for me - it isnt too expensive, I can keep adding to it, it runs games and its perfect for 3D animation.

Problem with running windows programs on a mac is that they don't seem to work too well - I'm an animator, and one of my mates tried running XSi (One of the leading 3D packages) on his mac and it was appalling. he ended up selling the Mac for a pc that was cheaper and had more power.
I'm not contesting that the Macpro with 8 cores is a fantastic machine - but it does retail for £2000. And what programs on a Mac really require that? For video editing, I'm running Avid and there is no slowdown. |
