Sorrry, but why would you join a drum competition after just 8 months? That's not meant to cut anything down but wouldnt you want to get like advanced experience before that?

Haha man i remember my first drum off check it if you can move around the kit pretty well i recommend sticking to 4/4 and fuckin tear it up with paradiddles. Keep the foot working between your beats you'll get some pretty awesome complex sounding stuff with some basic skills.
