"Yeah I know" So Wilson's Democrat, promotes TR's corollary, We get Hispaniola, but on the contrary, Europe comes down in a war that's hairy and scary, Constant u-boat sinkings and pleas of "spare me!" After submarine warfare, we've just had ENOUGH, Congress declares a war in EUROPE, World War I, a truly long fight The war to end all wars; yeah, right! Revenge remains in the mind of Britain and France, Treaty of Versailles is rough like denim pants, Germany is forced to make reparations, Then Wilson thus proposes the League of Nations, A committee of the countries of the world, To uphold the ideals of Wilson's 14 Points, But it's countered by reservationists, Ironically, isolationist America doesn't join it! Conservationists are coming up now, Laissez-faire up, progressivism down, We maintain world peace by creating a bunch of pacts, Like the Kellogg-Briand pact, in fact! New policies inhibited by foreign affairs, Events like revolution and the big red scare, And in 1924, we become more hectic, Limit the eclectic immigration; As we stabilized European ethnic proportions! So our economy crashes in 1929, Hoover screws the pooch and should of just died, For when Franklin Delano Roosevelt came, Things just never became the same. Isolation is dumb as Germany grows up, The Third Reich's fighting and remains stuck up, But FDR works around American ideals, Lend Lease Act and embargo on oil and STEEL, Indirectly brought the United States to WAR By having Japan bomb Pearl Harbor's CORE! Damn, I didn't know that there was more?! So we fight in Europe, some old regions, But also in the Pacific, with a good apparent reason, And disclose the idea of "unconditional surrender," Fight till the bitter end send them to the blender Of hell; talk in numerous conferences: Casablanca, Cairo, Teheran, Yalta, Potsdam, No doubt 'bout winning the war now, damn So we finally drop the bomb on Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki incinerated fast, Millions die seconds right after the blast, And VJ day comes, the war is over. We stop intense European conflicts moreover, Imperialism, isolation, neutrality is gone. The United States has changed, as the Cold War dawns.
