You get the adapter, yes. You also get the DVI-to-VGA connector. And the cable that lets you hook it up to the tv.

any new piece of hardware will run 1.6 at high fps....like redemptionwins said, guage your machine with something more intense. i wouldnt suggest crysis, i doubt what ever mobile form of gfx your lappy has can handle it. try half life 2

100 fps is stupidly high, try something more graphically intensive, like crysis

I just bought a new laptop, Intel Dual core 2.26ghz 3gb 800mhz ram and this graphics card, I get 100 fps in cs 1.6 , the graphics still look amazing - but i just want performance, is 100fps the max my system can generate??

Got this card today, I'll be using another 9600 GT (EVGA 1GB), getting ready for far cry 2 and fallout 3 woot!! Just hope SLI doesn't end up biting me in the ass.

ah, bout the whole framerate thing... Sure the eye processes 24 frames per second, but that by no means means the "world" runs at 24 frames per second... Your eyes are constantly receiving data. It appears smooth because something about when you process it it somewhat blends the data that it receives. Games running at 24 fps look choppy because there is nothing between to smooth it out.

Go intel, I'd recommend the Q9550 or QX9650 I have both and they are fast and overclock well too.
