on wiki it says: "Hide may have been practicing a technique to relieve upper back and neck pains which guitarists can suffer from continuous use of a shoulder strap. It requires a towel and a door knob or handle. Hide may have fallen asleep in his intoxicated state, becoming caught and strangling himself. i really hope that's what happened.. i don't want to think on Hide's death as a suicide

Police said so, but friends, fans believed it was an accident... Some people followed him right after his death.... so police/media stopped using the word "suicide". Check Wikipedia.
