don't be a fool. anyone with intelligence and an understanding in empathy will immediately recognize any sayings or innuendo that was once related to the nazi party as horribly offensive even at present.

agreed on the "Sieg Heil" part. The way that is usually said is meant to make 'fun' out of it. Obviously that holds no respect. But i meant praising a group or artist by saying 'Heil' is fairly normal. Undoubtly you might have heared english phrases like Hail to the king. Or a new song by Anouk - Hail Hail modern world. Also religious songs using those words. In Dutch terms could also litteraly be used "hij zoekt zijn heil in..."(Er sucht sein Heil in...). I don't mean to preach ;)

i mean native as in: born in germany, living in germany. and i have you know, the majority of the germans when they hear "Sieg Heil", even without the well known arm sign, link it instantly to NSDAP and Hitler. there are no other historical usages of that term as far as i know.

genau da hast du recht!

You mean native German living in the usa or are you currently living in Germany? Sieg Heil in combination with the typical arm sign refers to the nsdap....the words itself are just normal German language. When one says Heil Rammstein it just means that they think Rammstein is cool and no way refer to the nsdap. I think outsiders have more problems with this than Germans themselves...

@ajkooper: yes, i am very familiar with the german language, as a native german i should be. for 90% of the germans the combination of the word "Heil" with a name or group simply leaves a bitter taste in their mouths and i felt inclined to say something back then. @DERZWERGE11: if you would have looked up "Sieg Heil" you should know that it was a greeting in the NSDAP(Hitler's political party). maybe some political knowledge and correctness would do you good.
