I would like to add: it is not the country your parents was born in, or even where you were born. What matters most is what environment you grew up in, which includes your family as well as the neighborhood, state, and country you grew up in. Zakir Hussain is completely what one would define as Indian----his accent, his way of speaking, his mannerisms, his expressions...everything.

sonofthedestroyer: when Zakir Hussain's dad was born in Lahore, Pakistan did not exist. There are a whole lot of third generation children of migrants from WHAT IS NOW Pakistan. But when they were living overe there, EVERYTHING was British Raj.
