dvd's have 2 lasers on 650nm for dvds and one 808 or 780nm for cds

Good point. Most DVD drives are combo drives meaning they can use both DVDs or CDs. That also means that they have to use 2 laser assemblies instead of 1. I just used the IR laser meant for CDs here, but fact is its out of a DVD combo drive. I might change the title to make it less confusing.

why would it be IR if it is dvd?
Madgyver2 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Well the color is IR. It just looks like white because the CCD-Chip is not build for that spectrum and neither is the PC screen designed to display it.

yeah i see its not a red dot. it looked a little bit red on the hand. are some kinds of IR laser white? i thought you only can see IR light with special cams or optic devices.
Madgyver2 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Better check your eyes. Most people see a white dot there.
Heretic123456 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
i dont think that this IR laser, because you can see a red point
techforumz (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
how do you extract one of these? I've got about a million CD-ROMs.
alwinovich (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
in fact i believe this video is done with a cd burner, because cd burners have ir lasers, dvd'd have red lasers
