I quite like this version, as covers go it's pretty good...if you want to listen to a thoroughly awful version, the DJ Sammy one is a fine example :o)

If you look at Phantom Planet, for example, they took the theme of the 1924 song "California, Here We Come" and reworked it into their song "California", which I think is a masterpiece in its own right. They created something that is a lot better than the original, IMHO. The Ataris do a very good cover of "Boys of Summer", but I would rather listen to the original any day. I expect that most people who know about the original would say the same thing.

Absolutely .... Don Henley's original is a forever hit.. but I do feel some energy in this cover... excellent comment though..

What's the point?? The original Don Henley song is a masterpiece, and this cover does not add anything to it or even compare. I suggest you all listen to the Don Henley original, and some of the Eagles songs while you're at it, to learn how spoiled we were in those days... i.e. musical genius seemed to grow on trees back then. Everything started going downhill around 1990. The word "music" hardly applies to the sh*t that is spewed forth today.
