The approach used to read Gordon's mind was to select an image for each of the 233 songs he recorded. For those with one word titles, the image is to inform you, for those with several words in the title - there is a prompt. Each slide is shown for 1 second. How many Lightfoot song titles do you know? tj StonewallStudios The Lightfoot Tribute Team Link For online discussions about Gordon Lightfoot , his music and related topics http://www.corfid.com/ Link to Gordon Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis http://www.lightfoot.ca/ (G) (Gadd9) (G) (Gadd9) (G) If you could (Gadd9) read my mind love (Dm6/F) What a tale my thoughts could tell (G) Just like an (Gadd9) old time movie (Dm6/F) 'Bout a ghost from a wishing well (G) In a castle (Gadd9) dark or a (C) fortress strong With (D) chains upon my (Em) feet, you (C) know that ghost is (G) me And (C) I will never (G/B) be set free As (Am7) long as I'm a (D) ghost that you can't (G) see (Gadd9) If I could read your mind love, what a tale your thoughts could tell Just like a paperback novel, the kind the drugstores sell When you reach the part where the heartache come The hero would be me, but heroes often fail And you won't read that book again because the ending's just too hard to take (G) I'd walk a(Gadd9)way like a (C) movie star Who gets (D) burned in a three way (Em) script, (C) enter number (G) two A (C) movie queen to (G/B) play the scene Of (Am7) bringing all the (D) good things out in (Em) me But for (C) now love, let's be (G) real I (C) never thought I could (G/B) feel this way And I've (Am7) got to say that I (D) just don't get it (C) I don't know where (G/B) we went wrong but the (Am7) feeling's gone And I (D) just can't get it (G) back (Gadd9) (G) (Gadd9) If you could read my mind love, what a tale my thoughts could tell Just like an old time movie, 'bout a ghost from a wishing well In a castle dark or a fortress strong with chains upon my feet But stories always end And if you read between the lines you'll know that I'm just trying to understand The feelings that you lack I never thought I could feel this way and I've got to say that I just don't get it I don't know where we went wrong but the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back Note to All Viewers: This Tribute Channel is for the sole purpose of sharing the experience of the magnificent music of Gordon Lightfoot. I sing this song at Karaoke often, and I can do a pretty good imitation of Lightfoot. I love this song and like singing it, but I do notice some of the ladies fighting back tears, and quite frankly I have almost lost it once or twice singing this very poignant and beautiful song. So I sing it anyway.

Too many picture changes--too jarring . . .

Don't get the pictures that don't make any sense with the lyrics. Have to be on speed to watch this one. (Unless you are REALLY reading between the lines ;)

Good comment my friend, I think I agree with the best song. I'm guessing You're projecting a bit. You can drink instead of nothing.

This is the first GL song I fell in love with. It's still without a doubt his best. It perfectly expresses a man's feelings he keeps to himself in regards to the women he loves. We secretly long to be the hero that saves the day, but we usually come up short. It's like gords seeing his women slowly slipping away, and theres nothing he could do... but write this song.
