The reason for the removal was because they didn't want people getting tour Pokemon before the release. The glitch was called the Elite 4 glitch. It even allowed short cut to the final elite 4 member thus skipping the earlier elite 4 members. This is only in early Japanese DP games. It was removed in later japanese games released and of course fixed/removed in the english version. I have an early pearl version from Japan with this same glitch.

no, apparently, in the Japanese version, there was a glitch, my cousin did it without AR. The dp dub does not have this glitch because of some odd reason
