Actually neither. Enya only had one song in LoTR and it wasnt the theme. The theme was actually sung by Annie Lennox (Eurythmics fame- Sweet Dreams). They were paid a bit, just like every other musician who has had their song in a movie.

I know that this is the theme tune, or something similar, for Lord of the Rings, but was Enya commissioned to write and sing it or did Peter Jackson use one of Enya's songs?
