your so right but it looks like its been abandoned cos of its size thats one other reaason there dieing dont get me wrong harpie eagles are very protective to young but the babys must be perfect but this one should be that size around at birth but its not a chick cos its tail feathers are at the max number it can be very very unusal for a chick.

my brother kill a harpy eagle a few years ago, they are huge .i took some pictures with its wings .i still have its claws .And i have to say that i hate what he did,such beautifull bird never deserve what he did to it.unfortunately there's nothing i can do

Ihave have to say..the Harpy eagle is the most bad ass looking bird around..it looks so tuff..and the philipene eagle would be the most beautiful eagle ive ever seen..im going to start working with these birds in the future and help get them off the endangered species list..these two birds are my all time favorite bird of prey

It depends on what you are looking for... biggest in 'size' or dimensions or biggest in 'weight' meaning the Heaviest? In zoology the heaviest specie means the Largest. The Steller's sea eagle is the largest in weight while the Philippine eagle is the largest in size or external measurements meaning tallest, longest (head to tail)and largest in wing surface area.

What is the definition of the biggest? I mean: stellers eagles can have more weight, the fhilipine eagle is the largest in height..Then what do they mean by biggest? spanwidth?

The Harpy eagles can be found in central and south americas and its one of the three largest eagles in the world, like the Philippine eagle(LARGEST EAGLE IN SIZE)But it's not related to the Harpies group of eagles, It's a unique separate apecie; DNA anlysis suggest it is closely related to serpent eagles, Thee TOP predator of Philippine forests w/o any competition from other large predators such as big cats or bears. It evolved and get so big coz they have the Islands all by themselves.

ps harpies acording to the audobon societie's new book " bird: a definitive guide" it says that the HARPY EAGLE IS THE LARGEST EAGLE IN THE PACIFIC... last time i checked the philipines are in the pacific oh it also says actually that they are largest of the eagle family.. i rest my case ;)

wow, im a total birder too thats pretty ough seeing as how the harpy is HIGHLY endangered, plus the harpy could TEAR the macaw apart, its good to do reserch BEFORE you something that harsh, some helpful advice for parrot guy, nothing insulting just thought i would wise
