The majority of my family is Catholic, there have a total of 4 out of 8 of my uncles who went through separations. One even divorced twice.

Ok thats a load of b.s, because i tried to chart my girlfriends cycle just for fun. It resulted in an argument. Its the same as saying, drink coke, it'll make you happier in life.

Well, if you think that having intercourse is the same as contraception, or that abstaining from intercourse is the same as contraception, I'm not sure a rational conversation with you can be had.
But I do appreciate your interest in this Catholic topic. People who use Natural Family Planning have happier marriages. Anybody who wants their marriage to be happy and long-lasting should consider NFP and not allow anti-Catholic bigotry to cloud their mind.

See it is oxymoronic to say NFP vs. Contraception. Because the pope conjured up nfp as an answer to overpopulation. So in effect it is trying to achieve the same end as contraception. (But in my opinion it fails!) Seeing as how the fail 1/4 of the time, and a woman must abstain for 1/3 of her cycle. Dose not sound fun!
You're wrong about it not being a sexual practice. The person is sexually active hence the "DURING SEXUAL ACTIVITY" part of the definitions.

NFP is not contraception under any of these definitions.
The key phrase is in the 3rd definition: "any practice that serves to prevent conception DURING SEXUAL ACTIVITY."
NFP is essentially abstinence. Abstinence is not contraception. Contraception occurs DURING SEXUAL ACTIVITY. Abstinence cannot occur DURING SEXUAL ACTIVITY.

Great video. If you've never practiced NFP then I can see why a person would think it's no different than artificial contraceptives but this video is right; they're very different.

Both birth control and fertility drugs deal with hormones, but don't you think those are two different types of things?
I'm not terribly interested in dragging this debate out in 500 char YouTube comments though. I think you understand my point, even if you don't agree.
I am curious though... what's got you so riled up about NFP that you've been debating it here for a few months? |
