unless you're just trying to be a bother, i'd recommend getting the free learning edition of perhaps maya, its worth having a look at a few different programmes, though maya is often the most popular.
there are many parts to animation, modelling, rigging, weighting and controls set-up, animation and rendering, all of which are huge topics to cover. Its worth looking up tutorials for each, though all programmes should come with fairly detailed help files

I'm really having trouble tagging this one rig I have.... It's supposed to be kind of chubby spaceman, so the limbs are very close, and every time I re-tag my rig, it always brings along another body part w/ the arms.
Also, I'm having a problem w/ the neck. It has bumps going in, out, in out, etc. What should I assign that to? I don't want to assign it to the head, because I tried that already, didn't look to pleasant.
Any advice?

yeah..coool...but how do u make an animation?
noesisinteractive (June 27, 2007 at 8:57 pm)
The skeleton (or rig) is made up of bones & constraints to keep them together. Softimage|XSI contains some pre-created templates to work with and our 'Character Design & Integration' DVDs show you how you can create custom rigs in XSI, Maya or 3ds Max
Check out our site and visit the forums for more info!
