"You can't tell any man that Christ died for him and be honest because he may not be elect." - on my way back from taking my daughter to school today I was thinkng exactly the same thing."
Can you provide one example from Scripture where an apostle or anyone else says, "Christ died for you?" I see where they say, "Christ died for sinners" and "Christ died for me", but can you provide one verse where the apostles go to an unbeliever and say, "Christ died for you"?

"Too bad Agustine and Calvin hadn't been born yet so they could tell Him the difference!"
Ok, mikevoter. I can't say I didn't warn you and give you multiple chances. That rhetoric is unacceptable.

Right on, KJ man! Dead really means seperated from God by sin. That's what Adam experienced yet GOD brought him the salvation message while he was "dead". He was saved by that message and it still works today on "dead" people.
Then God PURSUED Cain, trying to get him to believe. Imagine, God seeking the non-elect!
Too bad Agustine and Calvin hadn't been born yet so they could tell Him the difference!
God bless you, KJman!

KingJamesVideoMan makes a very valid point when he says:- "You can't tell any man that Christ died for him and be honest because he may not be elect." - on my way back from taking my daughter to school today I was thinkng exactly the same thing.
If Calvinism is another name for Christianity / the Gospel then this aspect that salvation is not open to all has to be made clear wherever the gospel is preached otherwise it is dishonest.
How do you know you're one of the elect Lane?

When God died on the cross he said "IT IS FINISHED" not "I've done my part, now the rest is up to you".

Calvanism, Also gives more power to satan by stating that we don't have the power to resist satan. if that was the case then all the angels in heaven and all of us would have followed satan from the beginning. It also states that God cant have any worshipers unless he worships himself. I truely think this ideology is from satan himself. He wants people to think they are predistained to heaven when there not and predistained to hell when there not.

yea, I see many flaws with believing one way or the other. I truely believe it's a combination of both. Like when he calls people for a wedding dinner. He called the whole world, but they were busy. Then he chose only those that had prepared themselves for the dinner and didn't chose all who answered the invitation. Jesus also teaches that we must do certain things or the father will not forgive us. like forgiving other and repenting.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, Steve. Hopefully someone will come along on here that cares about it, right?

All of your philosophical, religious, Calvinist theologians don't impress me a whit. What impresses me is scripture and those who don't wrest it. Your dead man argument is as dead as the dead man your talking about. Jesus said "he that believeth in me, THOUGH HE WERE DEAD, yet shall he live." Jesus just said a dead man can believe. It said nothing about him having to be regenerated before he could believe. You can't tell any man that Christ died for him and be honest because he may not be elect. |
