Ernö Rapée, born in Budapest, was a prolific classical composer, pianist and conductor (he finally was appointed main conductor of the American Radio City Symphony Orchestra). Moreover he is remembered for popular songs he wrote in the late 1920's as Photoplay music that were premiered in New York at various theaters he worked at. When not conducting live orchestras, he supervised film scores for sound pictures, compiling a lot of films on which he worked as composer, arranger or musical director. Together with Werner Richard Heymann he is as well the co-composer of the tune presented here, recorded for Vox in March, 1926.

Thanks a lot! Unfortunately I only have this (taped) record, not the reverse side of the actual disc.

Symphonic Jazz at it´s best! Is it possible to listen to the other side of this record: Ich habe niemand (I ain´t got nobody)?

Don't have that here but it sounds tasty.

He had his flute loops and I have my Fruit Loops in the morning (that's a breakfast cereal here in the US).

The different and hybrid character of this interesting piece is implicitly explained in my video notes. He was a classical and film composer in the first place. This is a band record with strong classical influence (a. o. highly captivating flute loops).

Hi. I have watched this one a few times and it is truly different. Hard to peg. (17 views and mine is the first comment.) It sounds like it may have been meant for a skit in a film. Not bad.
