we have to improve our Technology in order to save lives before trying like this

Since Apollo 1 the death of humans attempting to explore space has never hindered our interest in it, only hardened our resolve!

It would be interesting to see these videos synched with the on board video that exists to see if there were any clues inside the cabin as to what was happening. Tremendous editing work! A tribute to the astronauts that we care.

i think it's clear that they all suffered a terrible slow, tortured death....i don't understand why NASA doesn't take responsibility

My teacher told me that one of the heat sheild tiles broke off and from re entree from space the heat found the heat sheild and blew it into smithorines.

regardless of how commonplace it may seem being saturated over the years by the reporting and the stark professionalism of the crew and teams, you can still bring these events back into their significant perspective with one remark. just say it out loud when you see this... "they're coming home from space"

This is painful and heartbreaking to watch, but it's an important part of our history. Progress often requires risk, and we're all better off for the risks and sacrifices made by people like the brave crew of Columbia to further our understanding of the universe around us. Thank you for posting this.

Space flight will always be dangerous. These brave astronauts go into space with the knowledge that they might never return. They do it all for mankind, adventure and exploration. God bless them all

God bless those whom lost their lives that day. Grace for all the families of those astronauts. Terrible thing indeed, I remember that sad day, & I also remember Challenger's. I was N high school when that disaster happened. I pray NASA stops cutting corners, & take their time N the future B4 sending our young men & women up N2 space. A rush job on projects such as this, makes the USA look foolish.

So they were still relaying information as their ship essentially disintegrated around them?
