They do now, a couple years ago Pope Benedict agreed to let Catholics use condoms, even though many do already. His purpose was to prevent the spread of deadly diseases, mainly AIDs in Africa since it has taken its toll on many many people.

Basically it's just making fun of Catholicism. The Roman Catholic Church doesn't condone the use of condoms, hence this sketch.

I watched this as a little kid. Now thatI'm older I have a little bit of an idea about what it means. Monty Python's pretty dirty. Is this like pro-contraceptives? I guess they're mocking how religions are against condoms and birth control pills and yet how could someone have that many kids? Every sperm is not sacred. I don't have sex with women, but I would use a condom if I wasn't married. I wouldn't have an abortion if I was a woman, but that's her choice. It's a catchy tune though!
