She sang them (Horner composed them)—as well as the "The Darkside of the Moon" track (when the astronauts are slingshotting around the moon). Again, no words, just a prominent vocal track. Actually, in the end credits, it's more like 3 overdubbed vocal tracks.

lennox did the end credits?

this is not off the soundtrack CD.. the sound is very different.. much more powerful and orchestrated.. i like it (not to say the same theme is not on the cd, but this is different.. maybe faster)

definitely one of my favorite scores.

Also, the beautiful and rousing end credits sequence to this movie (with Annie Lennox's wordless vocals) was based on a synth percussion track. Horner is no stranger to electronic instruments. But I agree with Indy223, the true orchestra will never die, neither on film nor in the classical concert halls.

Does anyone know the name of the orchestra playing on the score?

don't be afraid. i think hollywood and good composers/filmmakers will always depending on a real orchestra. they will always have enough money for "real" musical scores :) |
