Hi there, yes I do leave one of them on all the time. The hard drive that I have connected to my Airport Extreme Base Station is on all the time as I have quite a few other Macs throughout the house sharing this hard drive. The My Book attached to my iMac which is used with Time Machine gets turned of whenever I turn the Mac off. I will be making a video of my setup in the next day or so and you will be able to see them on that video also, check it out.

Nice. I was concerned about sound as well. Do you leave your HD on all the time? How do you handle it?

I have two My Book WD external Hard Drives, one is 750GB & the other is 500GB. I highly recommend them not only do they look good on your desk but they are more importantly very reliable, quite and easy to use.
