James Kalm sneaks a peak at the installation and returns for the opening of "Totalities" at the Deitch Project space in Soho. Hailing from Northern California's Bay Area, Johanson has been aligned with the local Skate-Punk scene as well as the street art community. "Totalities" is an ambitious project that seeks to represent a utopian conglomeration of environmental awareness, and a desire to recapture innocence through recycling and responsible employment of resources. Included are a "space temple" with rotating gray crystal, a skin-tone checkerboard wall, and a drawing gallery, all fashioned from recycled lumber. Featuring an interview with Chris Johansen.

For those of you in the Greater Williamsburg Greenpoint area, a very insightful feature appears in this months WG Arts and News paper, written by Trent Morris, it includes a nice color reproduction of a painting by Loren Munk. Check it out folks, available at Spoon-Bill books.

these are great. really liked these. had a lot of classic intent without being derivative. and yay for self taught artists. fine art is a lot of work. a lot. but let's face it. it's not physics. you can pretty much get there by yourself.

You guys are lucky, Ive had insomnia since 9/11/01. NY is indigo, but I hope the people who were fraternizing and giving big tips to the wait staff and management at the Hanoi Hilton dont get to run things.

new york is a fancy corn festival filled with expensive wranglers disguised in the latest denim trends covering the dirt on our knees. our happenings are illusions designed to mystify our notions of history, that aren't here anymore. i wake up in cold sweats fearing new york doesn't exist.

Spawn sits out here on the prarie where most women rely on kevlar reinforced Wranglers and would look most natural accessorizing with "Farmall" silkscreened up their fronts. We don't have happenings with topless women folk performing bust developing exercises while dressed as cavewomen. Corn festivals rule the social calendar with the smell of sweet potato rendering in the air. I wake up in cold sweats fearing this state will swing to McCain.
