yeah, your right he did turn it clockwise, maybe their clocks go the other way or something? I dunno cus i've seen some Japanese clocks that are about a hundred years old (so i can't give anything on the modern ones) and it had like 60 or 70 symbols around the face.

The other dragons said Resshin (Oka) likes messing with people. So he probably wasn't really ever going to hurt Recca and had already decided to help him. That and since he's Recca's father he wasn't to protect him for obvious reasons.
