look for realflow on youtube. It wouldnt take so long to create this particleeffects. Professional Labs also have large renderfarms/Networks for this kind of things.

slowmo cams can go up to 1500fps and of course they also used them.

None of it is computer generated.
I know about cg, it would take like a year to generate a balloon burst effect with that kind of particle system behaviour...
It's much cheaper to just take some slow-mo cams (don't exactly know how many fps they film at, but I'm sure it's quite a lot).
