I know that I meant they could be as fast as ramdisks but they dont want to make them fast ssds have been made into over expensive pieces of low frequency junk! An ssd right now is like having a 120HZ ddr ram chip. Computer industry benefits by keeping computers bottlenecked, but it doesnt matter when the economy crashes companies will be forced to make the home computer evolve like it or not!

Not completly true. SSD are still slower in writing, even compared to a HDD like the Samsung F1 640 gb. If you talk about reading, you are completly right. Even a Western Digital Raptor (10000 rpm) won't be able to get the same reading speeds.

SSD is not the same as RAM. Do you own a digital camera? Have you ever run out of battery on it? Did all your pictures disappear because of it? That would be a no. You're thinking of the wrong technology.

The read and write speeds are in actuality faster on SSDs. The main reason is there's no moving parts... Hence the name. The data reader/writer doesn't have to find the next location to write the next bit of information as a result it's actively faster than HHDs.

even 2$ per GIG would be reasonable for ssds given their write speed latencies are under 4 milliseconds across the charts.

dont get me wrong, hard drives 2day are very stable and reliable and really fast today, but still not as fast as ssd, now we get to endure more bottleck for who knows how long until they put faster chips in ssd drives! economics SUCK.

heres why ssds and samsung sucks! samsung conspired to install performance halting chips to slow down write speeds in ssds and then make them exacerbatingly expensive to protect the old cluncky mechanical hard drive market! economics sure suck! Even usb keys with fast write speeds were quickly discontinued

its worth buying if your prices are correct. I mean this Old Harddrive technology is what holding the CPU and GPU Technology for more action. Its about time.

Right. Pendrives always take power as well. IMO history will repeat itself in that it will be about the same as with LCDs over CRTs - technology has plenty of imperfections and pitfalls now, but overtime they will be alleviated and prices will drop, making them affordable to masses.
