I will check it out when it premiers on NBC but I don't really have high hopes for it. I read that the first 2 stars in a reasonably price car will be Melanie B & the host of deal or no deal.

The chemistry for a real good Top Gear has already been done. There is no way a US version will be able to compare or compete with the real British version. I will still watch the older seasons on BBC America but I think they should give up on an American version. However if they were to drag the guys from "Car Talk" from radio to TV and set up a car review show based on Top Gear, calling it something different, then they will have something to go on here in the US.

im going to go against the flow and be optimistic about the US version of top gear. if they get the personality balance of the 3 right and they dont try and copy the british version exactly then it could be good. i think if they avoid making it really hollywood and cheesy and dont make it to easy on the presenters and dont pump too much cash into it it will be ok, they just need to keep the "enthusiastic but rubbish" mentality that makes the british one so enjoyable.

topgear US will prob be a flop...well everywere but the states it will be...then its like someone else trying to make another version of Friends...shouldnt be done.... |
