Duck stab/Buster and Glen,Third reich and Roll, commercial album avoid Meet The Residents and Eskimo they're great albums but might be too avant garde and a put off for the first listen

Les Claypool kicks assssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, and this song is weird as shit haha. but you can definatley tell its les, and he plays Hello Skinny in the middle of Too Many Puppies on Hallucino Genetics, the show in Chicago...

The album I started with was Freak Show. Duck Stab, Commercial Album and Third Reich and Roll are also good for first time listeners, and then once you like the band I recommend buying Eskimo right away.

I got one for you...Why don't you seek one out on your own. That's what I did back when there was no internet. I would buy albums and sometimes they were good and sometimes but most often they were terrible...And sometimes you found gold in the city dump.

I listened to Third Reich 'N' Roll first, it did the trick for me. I'd also say The Commercial Album is a great choice, or even the Bunny Boy cd. It's good to know that they change styles a lot so don't expect anything other than it being out there and awesome.

That was my first impression of them too, but soon hey grew on me. I recomend for a new listener to buy "The Comercial Album", it's a lighter album but still also very very good. Then I suggest you move on to "Mark of the Mole". Unfortunately I've never heard any of it, but my friend (who is an even bigger fan) thinks it's their best album. Or you can go with Duck Stab/Buster and Glen (one of my favourites). But go with Comercial Album first.

Well, I think there would be very few people who would dispute that the late seventies and early eighties were the "heyday," so to speak, of The Residents. Newer stuff is also good, but Duck Stab, The Mark of the Mole, The Commercial Album, stuff of that era is what got me into them. The Ryko comps. "Heaven" and "Hell" are very out of print but are a good intro to this period. I guess Commercial is the most accessible as it isn't as much of a "concept" album as some of the others I mentioned.
