Great song. I thought this was a Mick Karn tune. I remember being given the 7" single in December 1986.

Play 'Before the Bullfight' from 'Gone to Earth' - the intro (first 20 odd seconds) is exactly the same. This enables you to slot the track into the album (as it originally ended side one) should you wish to, with no break in the instrumental section connecting the preceding track ('Laughter and Forgetting') to this one.

Another great song by Sylvian in conjunction with Karn. I still have the album somewhere... In all the years I have been a Japan fan etc; I never knew about the split up between Karn and Sylvian. It's true, you're never to old to learn somthing!

One of the two songs performed by David Sylvian on Mick Karn's album "dreams of reason produce monsters". Lyrics by David Sylvian, Music by Mick Karn, of course.
published in 1987.

The way I remember reading about it was that on the first day of Japan's final tour, Mick's girlfriend moved in with David Sylvian. Must have a been a stressful tour! Also, Sylvian wanted to go even more obscure while Karn wanted to go more commercial if you can beleive that. This is what I read at least. |
