How tall would you need to be to ride this bike comfortably? I've seen Ewan McGregor's height listed about between 5'9.5" to 5'10.5" and he seemed to struggle getting on and off it, and his feet weren't flat to the ground when he was stopped at traffic lights and such.

When Ewan McGregor was preparing for his around the world trip "the long way round" they asked KTM for some bikes. KTM refused because they did not think the bikes would cope and would be bad press. Well they used BM's too great success and I'm sure BMW sold 1000's of GS's just on the back of that film. Shame on KTM, the biggest own goal of all time?

hi there, i'm portuguese and i have a ktm 950 adventure s, i'm very very satisfaed, the ktm, is something more nimbo, something more radical, and with this bike, you can ride everywere, if you want to go to dakar, you can, if you want to go to the mountains with your wife you can... they are very good bikes after all, but the bm, you know, the circle, saying, bm, you pay so much for that...

Ok I think I passed the character count so I'll write it again: The R1200GSA is a better choice than the F800GS. If you are going to offroad more seriously but still want to do long touring, go for the KTM990Adventure instead, which is a much better offroader than both the BMW's, and is more powerfull and has better fuel autonomy than the F800GS. Great tips, thank you.. Now I need to determine F800GS or R1200GSA. Price/Off-Road Capability vs. More Touring Capability and proven abilities.

the adventure model handles better offroad than the standard model despite it's weight or size, because of it's gearbox, suspension and other specific features.
