The other sources toil away in obscurity, hounded by agents of an overweilding federal government, doomed to live a life of repression and dissent... only in their hearts and secret underground meetings knowing the righteousness of their cause.

Oops sorry, phdecora. But I must say your statements sound both unusual, and not very well founded. Could you try and find the Wikipedia article you referred to ? Other sources ? The Wikipedia article Fixed-gear_bicycle has a section on (missing)brakes that lacks the arguments you put forward, although the debate on brakeless "fixies" is coverred. . Instead referenced arguments are put forward vaguely to the opposite effect.
