believe it or not, its Nine Inch Nails. They actually have some good instrumental stuff. I'm not a big fan of their more well known songs though.

sorry to stray from the subject of the camera, but is Michael Andrews who wrote this score?

IT will never get dated. DOF is an essential tool for visual story telling.

I agree with what you say. I was just saying that people will post loads of shallow DOF movie style demos until the novelty has worn off, then it will be integrated into videos along with deep DOF effects as required by the subject matter. It's nice to have a choice of both.

I don't think you should compare 70's zooms and shallow depth of field. There are some things that are just bad style choices, and i don't think that this is one that will grow as stale as that did. Pro video cameras have a very deep depth of field by nature, because of how the imaging chip works, and how close it is to the lens, so it has more to do with the size of the camera than any thing. I don't think it will get dated, there is still a place for both Shallow and Deep DOF.

It'll (DOF that is) be played with for a while, like 70's movies with lots of zooms. Eventually pro video cameras will come with it as standard but the look will never go away. Any still photographer uses DOF creatively and I'm sure everyone can think of a classic movie moment where it is used to great effect. Now we can! |
