can someone please give me a solid answer on which camera i should purchase......the NIKON D60, SONY alpha 200, Olympus Evolt E-510, or the Canon Digital Rebel XTi??????

You might want to look at the Olympus Evolt E-510. It offers more features, for the same or fewer bucks.

i would get a nikon. the lenses are so much better. the d60 (or the cheaper old version d40x) and the d80 are both 10.2mp. i have the d40x and i love it, but when i go to college for photo i am probably going to get a d300, but keep all the good nikon lenses i have from my d40x. nikons bodies are much tougher too. also look into pentax's cameras. they are a little expensive but great cameras and are very sophisticated for the price in terms of controls.
