This is certainly one of the best of the 1970s disaster movies. 36 years later, it still fascinates me to watch it again and remember the days when Hollywood did entertain millions around the world.
Besides the 1970s were the very complicated years of Vietnam, Cold War, etc etc.
We all needed something else to think about.
Finally, the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful.
Well done to all involved on this production.

So true. I saw the remake "Poseidon" on TNT the other day. I couldn't follow any of the characters. I didn't understand any of them. No character developement in the remake.
Who/what was Josh Lucas's character? Who was Richard Dreyfuss's character? What did he do? What was his problem?
Remakes never match up to the original, especially when the original was a great classic.

i know this is considered a great movie and all, but the idea that an ocean liner can stay afloat upsidedown is redic.

Classic 1970s disaster film. The remake was terrible.

Never saw the movie so I have no room to comment, however your comment regarding the song reflects what may suggest possible tone deafness or something else that I am too much of a gentlemen to mention here on your part.
