Here's compiz-fusion running on the ASUS eeepc 701. I've set mine up to dual boot with the stock Xandros on the SDD and Xubuntu on a 8Gb SDHC card - compiz is running under Xubuntu - with only 512Mb RAM and i910 3d intel chipset. Runs very smooth!

tmason, your doing to definitely love your eee pc. i got the 2gb surf a while ago, but with that 2gb i got rid of the lunix that came with it and replaced it with xubuntu (1.5gb required) giving me only 500mb but then i got an 8gb hc micro sd and a 320gb externel sata drive. so from my original 2gb surf, i now have a new OS and 328.5gb (which is 328,500mb) which is freakin amazing! anyway, your definately gonna love it. Just get creative and enjoy

Mine is coming in today, I'm stoked.

yeah I agree with you:) I agree with this compromise between size/weight and the usability:)

Thanks for the correction. I hadn't looked into it that carefully, but now that I have, you're absolutely right. 8.9" is just as good, if you ask me :)

not 10" but 8,9"...10" version was cancelled a lot of time ago! for this while.

as soon as you get the eeepc, you will have to download a different linux distribution and upload that onto the machine. this person uses xubuntu. other common linux distros include: ubuntu, pclinux, opensuse and fedora. please seek more info online when u get it.

wow! I've always been a windows user all my life, and only recently I've realised what I'm missing out on. As my parents are getting me an Asus EEE Pc (8g) for my 18th I can't wait to try out all this different open source software! God, if I manage to run this on my eee pc my mates are going to be soooo jealous, can't wait! Goddamit why can't my b'day hurry up!
