her pronunciation is horrific!and the dipthong is just too much

As someone who, unfortunately, doesn't know this beautiful-sounding language at all, this is an incredible song. I'm kind of glad to be oblivious to the proper pronunciation because I can enjoy this all the more. =P

I agree, hzla88. I remember singing this with my highschool choir, and while her voice is beautiful, she cuts off notes and doesn't enunciate enough. No accenting consonants, which makes the song very difficult to understand if all you're hearing is vowels. My old teacher would probably be having a fit if he heard this.

I find her pronunciation a little off, and some notes she cut a bit short (maybe it's me though) but otherwise wonderful.

Many classic singers have a strange pronunciation; just listen to famous 1920s Maori singer Ana Hato singing Waiata Poi, in English. (She's been re-released on CD)
But I do love Ana Hato's singing too. |
