Yes, if movies just showed flashes of gore, they would actually be scarier, since the audience wouldn't have a chance to get used to seeing it.

The problem with modern-day horror films is that they totally lack in substance and are instead filled to the brim with unnecessary gore that does not add to the atmosphere, further the plot, or develop the characters. This classic film, which likely influenced the production of every single zombie movie since, is not bad. It is, in fact, one of the best horror films ever made. That's just a fact. It STARTED the living dead.

Does anyone else out there remember "Creature Features"? It was a sci-fi/horror movie show hosted by Bob Wilkins and came on at 11pm every Saturday night. Anyway, there is an alternate ending to this movie that I saw as a teenager on "Creature Features". The ending has the little girl -- the one in the basement who was bitten by one of the zombies -- escaping from the house and just walking away through the forest. Has anyone else ever seen this ending and do you have a clip of it?

What the.... is the "clip" here on youtube really one and a half hour? Well that's some clip. And maaaan, this film is a real classic. Love the setting, especially the fact that it's black and white. It really adds to the atmosphere.
