The batteries have arrived and are installed at long last! It took a few days of fiddling about but we installed and secured the front and rear batteries into place with super-strong stainless steel strapping. I also created and installed my sealed rear battery box which has the extraction system connected to the turbo timer and a relay so that both the ignition and the charging system activate the fans. The turbo timer ensures the fans keep going for 3 minutes after I've turned the car off, or unplugged the charger. It sounds complex but it isn't. You have to remember it's ME we're talking about here ;) If you can't wait for the next video you can Check out the regularly updated progress at www.KiwiEV.com ANOTHER UPDATE!! I'm selling DVDs of the whole project for $15 USD at my website www.KiwiEV.com (That includes Airmail postage too!) The quality's much better than on Youtube and it comes with an unreleased Bonus Video!

Meticulous. It's impressive.

Well, Li-Po cells still will be way to expensive for the time being. For example the pack giving you ~90 volt, with 500 Ah, will cost you approximately 30000 usd, the other thing - when you have ~100 kg of lithium behind your back it is like driving a bomb. So for now the optimal solution is Gel and AGM batteries.

This is all brillant, have you thought about a conversion to laptop batteries though?

Range is still an estimate at the mo, I might get close to 60km if I drive it really gently? Time will tell. The acceleration is superb and the top speed looks like it'll reach 130km/h at this stage. I'll put the vital stats up when it's all legal.

Very slick installation - appears you have an ADC motor and Curtis controller. What kind of range and top-speed are you expecting?

Yay! You're almost there Gav! I'm so excited for you m8. Can't wait to see it drive. Also looking forward to seeing how far you can go before you need a charge. When you do have that data could you please provide the details in US and metric results? That would be super. Great work on the video sound track too Gav.
