actually yes they do water beats lightning
fire beats ice ground beats wind light beats darkness and the other way around
so if you fight undine use lightning attacks or volt

Tales of Eternia does have some truly spectacular spell animations and pyrotechnics. It's kind of sad when you see how lame Tales of Legendia's are in comparison!
