Soz, 1 more comment I saw this tour as a 15 yr old with big wide eyes!! It was at Free Trade Hall Manchester UK. I was fascinated with Roy Babbingtons 5 string bass and I remember the ambient synth flavours anticipating rave and dance music by about 12 yrs!! And Allan? I'd never heard anything like it nor have since. Talk about cooking? I also tried to curl my hair under wit hairdryer ( I was awestruck 15 for crissakes! lol

Hee hee Land of coke is dire I agree! I remember my girlfriend would play it insisting it was the only "listenable" thing in my softs collection. Girls hate soft machine - and beefheart lol ( oops prob opened a can o worms here.......

Amazing how the kids today think they are pioneers in guitar playing, drumming and keyboards, they should learn about the likes of Soft Machine, Genesis, Rush etc.

Just trying to noodle along with this and I reckon the the 9/8 part of the solo (4.30 onwrds) is in A aeolian with the last 8 bars in D dorian, then the 4/4 part is over 4 bars each of A dorian - F dorian - B dorian - C# dorian to the end. Cld anyone who knows it confirm?
