i agree! i've studied for 5 years and everytime someone asks what i play and i answer "recorder" they say "but that's really easy, i used to play it at school" i get really angry haha. i try to explain them, but there are a lot of people that just can't see it as a difficult instrument that can play a beautiful sound.. (i'm sorry i you find one or more mistakes in what i wrote, i'm argentinian and haven't finish studying english)

I think the recorder is underated!

Certo che l'accordatura a 415 è un'altra cosa...

It is hard to believe he would perform on a plastic recorder when everyone else is playing on reproductions of original instruments. But it does look that way to me. And I have to say from my experience the plastic sopraninos really tend to play very well. I have a wooden Von Huene Renaissance sopranino which has a beautiful sound - but for this piece with the need for the complete range of the instrument and for a sound which projects Aulos and Yamaha sopraninos are really outstanding.

it isn't really so much different from a soprano, it's brighter though and has a smaller thumbhole (which makes some of the highest notes hard to play)

By the way just a comment on this video... Giovanni Antonini is obviously an incredible virtuoso... wow. :) I hope to play 1/2 as good on this instrument someday. I just got a sopranino today (although it was not the correct model I ordered, grr!) and it seems much harder to play than a soprano. :(
