A piece of social history + nostalgia. I was member no 555, there on the first night in Sept 73. The footage is about 10 years later, not long before the club's sad demise. Speaking of sad demises, the old guy's marvellous rich Lancashire accent won't be heard much more. What about club manager Mike Walker's bizarre black tie attire!.... and I'm sure there was never a Socialist Worker seller in a collar n' tie. .

The casino was a shit house people stealing your bag or anything in it even if you d just bought a record they d take it went more times than anyone ( BIG CLAIM ) Well i lived there... monday ended at 10.30 Or the monacho hindley.wednesday SAME Friday too . Then All nighters fri old stuff and sats.Now too many on the band wagon. BUT good on yer K T F.The vease.

Perhaps the truest and most honest comment I've ever read on here. The music was, and still is, absolutely mindblowing. However, it was the people that made the Northern Scene what it was/is. You're absolutely right, those of us who were around before the cameras came in really were trailblazers in Social Cohesion and Integration. Great music that would be totally forgotten if not for a relatively few lads/lasses from the heart of the UK whose whole existance revolved around the coming weekend.

This proves Northern/Rare Soul fans are a special kind of person, Wigan, Torch, Wheel, Catacombs, Blackpool Mecca etc were frequented by people who were trailblazers in Social Cohesion and Integration, people came from all over, we were and still are the BIGGEST FAMILY in the World brought together by this unique music, you instantly know a "Soulie" when you see one, where ever you go in the World you know you are always welcome at a "Soul Do" and NORTHERN SOUL lives on -KEEP THE FAITH !

I was with a mate from Millwall 'Up North' and the bloke asked him if he wanted gravy on his chips. First time i've seen a cockney lost for words. Made me laugh.
