Cripes, do ppl always have to politicize EVERYTHING? Regardless of whether you agree with Belafonte's political statements, he was a fantastic singer and entertainer, and exposed the Caribbean island culture and music to the US, it's joyous and enriches our lives, and ppl love it to this day. My mom played this record at home when I was little (of course we sang it to my dad) and I thought it was funny; it's brought back great memories, and it's wonderful to see Nat sing it with him. Peace.

legends, my granddad spent a few years during the 50's serving for the British army in jamaica, he met net king cole and he has a photo of the moment. the soldiers used to all sing this song, my grandda sings it all the time, makes me thingk of him when i hear it. timeless
