Certainly Sagan endorse that, yes. Sagan agreed with the idea that we should investigate the universe using the scientific method in particular.
I say "religiosity" not religion. There's a difference; religion refers to a knowledge system/system of belief. Religiosity refers to an emotive feeling (some people connect it to the temporal lobe) that is associated with "spiritual" feelings. When Sagan says "we yearn to return to the Cosmos" and we are "star stuff", I think he is playing on that.

Not religiosity, curiosity. Religions are based on belief without proof, without any attempt really to understand. Sagan's view is the opposite, that we should ask, seek, try to explain, try to find answers, not just to fall back on texts produced by who knows who with who knows what agenda and regard them as the truth.
