Star Fox: Super Weekend Competiton

Star Fox fans will love this one, this is a video of a very rare copy of the Star Fox Super Weekend Competition (well, a copy of the ROM file at least). The object of the game was to see who was the best player at the old Star Fox, so in 1993, Nintendo made what seems to be only 2000 copies of this short 4 minute chalenge where players would compete to see who could score the highest in that short amount of time. It's broken up into three stages, the first level is a very short Corneria stage, with the Attack Carrier as a boss. The second level is a short Asteroid Belt with the Rock Crusher as the final boss. However, the third level is much different. Although it uses the Space Armada music, the level feels more like a training level. It goes around in circles, much like the Black Hole or Titania and the player is challenged to score huge points in the time that's left. This level is the reason that a player wants to beat the first two bosses as fast as possible. So, sit back and enjoy this one. It's kinda funny, I ran this again the morning after I made the video, and managed a score of 287,751. Go figure. Why do I always get the worst screen grabs for the video preview?

You lucky son of a bitch... I played this once, was very, very different than the original, but with all that extra cartridge data, why couldn't they have made the graphics better.

I still have my regular Star Fox cartridge. I still play it up to this day, trying to beat route 3.

I remember this contest! I actually won at two local stores. Wal-Mart (before the supercenter here opened) and Hills (which has since closed down). I still have the flight jackets laying around somewhere!! This really makes me feel old. I think the contest was held during the summer of 1993.

Yup, there is. Apparently, there's only an estimated 2000 of them that were ever made and luckily I have one of them. :D
