I take great comfort and solace in listening to this song, my kid brother passed on tragically in 1970 when this song first came out, everytime I see and hear this beautiful song and Karen's wonderful voice it gives me great comfort in rememberance of him when he was alive, I know his spirit and this song will live on forever.

This is one of my all time favorite Christmas songs. Karen Carpenter was incredible and she mastered this song. It has a very specail meaning for me this time of year.

I used to work at Tower Records, and several years ago I was playing Christmas Portrait over the store system. A guy probably in his 50s that was a regular customer came up and told me that he was sent to Vietnam in December, 1970. He said the first time he and his buddies heard it on the radio they all sat there and cried. |
