I have a 5D, and I have a lot of L glass, but I really am thinking of getting a D3, because of its speed, performance and ergonomics. Also, there are some Nikon lenses that really appeal to me at the moment. My brother shoots with a 1Ds Mark III, and he's going to get mad at me for wanting a D3.

Shame the D3 is better!

I've got a Canon 1D MKIII , and a D3; they're both great, but if I had to pick one for that once in a lifetime shot, it would be the Canon 1D MKIII; the AF is dead on, it's faster, and if it's OOF, it's my fault, not the camera's. My wife loved it so much, she stole it, and now I'll be buying another one

just try both cameras, see for yourself the difference! D3 feels much better in my hand then the 5d. The button layout and design feels so much more natural on all Nikons to me over the Canons. Don't get me wrong, the Canon cameras are really good, just I preffer Nikon. I own both Nikons and Canons.

canon has the better lenses too. face facts my friend. D3 is an awesome camera but not good enough to switch from my canon 5d. The 5d is the best camera for its price point ....end of story
