the riff is from the Yardbirds, the boogie rhythm is descended from John Lee Hooker via Canned Heat, the lyrics are true metal: generalized nihilistic portest, well in advance of latter-day metal bands -- the eternal cry of Man facing the Universe, seeing no hope but refusing to be daunted -- all bravado and panache, like Cyrano de Bergerac -- makes my mind seethe and my nostrils flare just to hear it -- very excellent!

Always reminds me of black dog by Led Zeppeln, both cool songs. I wonder if Led Zep drew inspiration foer that song from this one, (Black night '70,black dog '74)? Canl;t beat Claasic rock thats for sure.
