I have a UV filter on the lens as a protector (standard camera filters fit) and made a clear vinyl cover for the rest of the camera that the front of the lens pokes out of if I need to protect it from apple-sauce and such.

You can see the streak of it coming in. Stopping a 1200 feet-per-second bullet cold will take a lot more than 1200 frames-per-second :(
