Ian, Ted, and Balsamo are ALL outstanding in their own ways- no need to debate who is best. Please check out the video I just posted of Kurt Bowen performing this song...he was the most realistic and believable Jesus I've ever seen on stage.

I saw Ted Neeley with Corey Glover this past spring. Ted's voice is a bit ragged and he did okay, but Corey was unbelievable! What an amazing voice.

Ian is the Best. Too bad he didn't do the movie. Ted did an excellent job and turned it into a career. I saw him with Corey Glover a couple of years ago. Great show but Ted's voice was a bit shot. Still LOVED it!!

I remember when I was little (6 years or somethin). I saw jesus christ superstar.. and fell in love with Jesus' voice.. It was amazin..And then my niece gave me my first cd, of deep purple, telling me that the singer of this band did the voice of Jesus. It was amazing. I couldn't stop listening. And even till this day that voice hypnotisez me.

Sorry i am going to disappoint everyone but the best version is with Steve Balsamo. I don't know how he does it but every time i watch him singing Gesthemane i cry. I thing his way is the best way to sing that song.

yes, the first time gillan in israel,
the first time in 1991 with joe linn turner as the purple's fron man,
he is a good singer,but he can't sing gillan's
