THESEUSS2 it wasnt the script...THAT WAS BATMAN in the 60's THe books were just as corny. I have almost a full run of batman and detective (missing the first 50 from 1930's onward, and a FULL run of brave and the bold with batman. Thanks to stan lee who upped the ante for comics in the 60's THe late 60's early 70's batman was changed from maxwell smart batman (adam west) to a dirty harry batman (Bale). SO you cant blmae the script.

West has been in various movies before an after his role as Batman. He did a good job as Batman. The darker, more tormented Batman is much more compelling than the card-board Batman of the TV series.

I haven't seen West in other roles outside of Batman, but he did do a good job as Batman. I just prefer the darker, more tormented Batman. Blame the writers for corrupting Batman's image. What else... he was good as the Grey Ghost from Batman the Animated Series.

Actually I agree with you. My point is that the actors could have done a good or great job with a much better script. The TV show of the 1960's was terrible. It's really too bad. adam West demonstrated his talent in later roles.

I disagree. If we look at it from that perspective, then Clooney would have been the best Batman just because of his record, but if you look at how these individual actors have shaped the character of Batman then Bale obviously did the best job. West did a very good job being campy. Clooney did well given the script but there's a time when the actor should tell the director, "No, you've got the character, the story all wrong" and that's what Keaton and Kilmer did when they left.

Adam West did a good job as Batman. it was the script for the TV show that was awful. The big problem with the 1990's movies and the 1989 movie was the script was lacking in substance, suspense and even some realism. Clooney did a good job as Keaton did. Christian Bale was just using the best script out of them; that's why his portrayal was the best. If we could just have had this film made in the 1960's w/Adam West, that would be the best.
